Aid finally reaches Gaza but children still lack basic needs: Save the Children

Some aid trucks prevented from entering Gaza for months have now reached the territory, yet much more needs to be done, Save the Children’s CEO Inger Ashing has told Al Jazeera. “The needs are not met, not even close,” Ashing said from Deir el-Balah, central Gaza. “We need to do much, much more to ensure that children here have access to their basic needs, including water, food, shelter and medicines.” At one of the British charity’s mobile health clinics in Gaza, a mother of four was struggling to feed her one-year-old baby “because there simply was no food to find,” Ashing said. “Thanks to our help, she was now able to get the baby back to a less fragile situation, but that means that we need to get these medications, the nutritious food to ensure that we are responding as the needs are enormous,” she said.
