Belarus election: President Lukashenko expected to remain in power

Belarusians are heading to the polls for presidential elections on Sunday. Despite five names on the ballot, the out-come is widely expected to favor Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled Belarus for three decades with an authoritarians grip. Following the 2020 elections, mass protests erupted, leading to the arrest of 35,000 people and prompting half a million citizens to leave the country.

Al Jazeera’s Bernard Smith reports from Minsk.
