Investigating the killings of children in Gaza | BBC News

Warning: This video contains distressing images of children with injuries, many of them fatal.

The BBC World Service has compiled material on over 160 cases where children have been shot in Gaza, and found that in 95 cases the child was shot in the head or chest.

In most of these cases the victim was under 12 years old.

The cases BBC World Service found run from the first weeks of the war up to July 2025.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, which runs a field hospital in Gaza and has seen many children with gunshot wounds, has told the BBC that the world cannot accept as a “new normal” the type of warfare that allows so many children to be shot.

Israel does not allow foreign journalists to enter Gaza, and destruction and displacement make it difficult to gather material.
