Israeli army fires near diplomatic delegation in Jenin, citing route breach, no injuries reported

Israeli forces fired towards a diplomatic delegation visiting Jenin in the occupied West Bank.
The group included diplomats from the European Union, the UK, Sri Lanka and Arab states, who, along with journalists, were visiting the city’s refugee camp to assess conditions and meet the governor.
According to the Wafa news agency, Israeli soldiers fired five shots at the delegation, but no casualties were reported.
The Israeli army stated that the shots were intended as warnings, fired after the group deviated from their approved route and entered an “unauthorised” area.
The military said there were no injuries or damage and that a commander is reviewing the incident, with findings to be shared with the diplomats.
The military said it “regrets the inconvenience caused”.
Italy’s Foreign Minister has summoned Israel’s ambassador to the country, in response.
The EU has condemned the incident.
