Nigeria’s Zuru people preserve marriage tradition through farm labour

Times may have changed but for the Zuru people of Nigeria, some customs and traditions have endured.
A bachelor looking to marry a local girl has to commit to 7 years of farm labour, on his potential in-laws’ farms.
The bond is supposed to last a lifetime, but not without some sacrifices also on the part of the woman.

Al Jazeera’ Ahmed Idris reports from the town of Zuru in northern Nigeria.
