Putin hails long-range nuclear missile as Russia pushes deeper into Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin, dressed in military fatigues, met army chief Valery Gerasimov for an update on Ukraine’s front lines.
He claimed Russian forces are encircling Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk and Kupiansk, urging their surrender to avoid casualties.
However, the Institute for the Study of War disputes that the cities are close to falling. Putin also praised the successful test of the Burevestnik nuclear-powered missile, which reportedly flew 14,000 kilometres in 15 hours.
Meanwhile, a Russian envoy visited the US amid new sanctions, and North Korea’s foreign minister arrived in Moscow to bolster military ties.

Al Jazeera’s Dmitry Medvedenko reports from the Russian capital.
