Sanctioned Israeli settler Yinon Levi faces murder accusations after shooting dead Palestinian community leader Awdah Hathaleen in Masafer Yatta. Awdah, a father of three featured in the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land, was killed during a settler attack involving gunfire and a bulldozer that also injured another Palestinian. Witnesses allege Levi fired indiscriminately at unarmed villagers, with the attack captured on video. Despite being under EU UK sanctions (after US delisting under Trump), Levi remains protected by Israel’s settlement system – now under house arrest. The killing reflects escalating settler violence since 7 October, with near-total impunity for attacks on Palestinians. Awdah’s cousin testified the shooting was unprovoked, stating: “There was no danger… they killed him here.”
