Meanwhile, Syrian President Ahmed Al Sharaa has ordered the withdrawal of government forces – and is handing security control of Suwayda to local authorities.
The decision is part of a ceasefire agreement with Druze religious leaders.
The army was deployed to the area earlier in the week, to control violence between Druze and Bedouin fighters.
