Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has held talks with the US President at the White House.
Talking to media after the meeting, Donald Trump said his administration will be meeting directly with Iran on Saturday.
He said the talks will be “at almost the highest level”.
During the meeting the two leaders also commented on the war in Gaza.
Trump said he thought the war would stop in the “not so distant future”.
Netanyahu said they discussed Palestinians in Gaza leaving to other countries.
Marwan Bishara is Al Jazeera’s Senior Political Analyst. He says Trump’s announcement of direct talks with Tehran would not be to Netanyahu’s “liking”, as the Israeli leader has long wanted to simply bomb Iran.
