The US Federal Reserve has left benchmark interest rates unchanged on Wednesday—despite enormous pressure coming from the White House. They cited uncertainty over the country’s economic outlook and inflation numbers as the main reasons behind that decision. Donald Trump has threatened to fire the head of the central bank, Jerome Powell.
