Hackers are demanding a ransom to unblock computer systems at an Antwerp coronavirus testing laboratory, in keeping with native press.
The lab, which processes 3,000 exams a day, round 5 % of the Belgian complete, was hit by the cyberattack Monday, the Gazet Van Antwerpen reported.
The hackers’ intention was to blackmail the lab reasonably than steal any knowledge, in keeping with the lab’s IT officers quoted in native press.
The lab has notified native authorities which are actually investigating the incident.
The hack is simply the most recent to focus on coronavirus infrastructure. The European Medicines Company was the sufferer of a cyberattack earlier this month, whereas British vaccine producer AstraZeneca says it was hacked by a North Korean-backed group in November.
