Arklow RNLI rescued a motor cruiser with two crew off the Co Wicklow coast on Sunday when the boat bought caught in fishing nets.
The motor cruiser was appearing as a assist boat for a crusing regatta when its propeller bought caught in fishing gear and the Marine Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) was referred to as. The MRCC then tasked the native RNLI lifeboat to reply.
The Arklow RNLI towed the cruiser about 0.4km into Arklow harbour.
An MRCC spokesman described the incident as “fairly a routine job. We get a number of these across the coast right now of the 12 months.
“They simply get their propellers fouled on both lobster pots or fishing gear and we simply despatched the native lifeboat out to tow them in.”
