Emergency companies have been rescuing passengers who had been trapped in a bus that was swept away by floods on a busy freeway in northern Kenya.
The bus, with about 50 passengers, was heading to the capital, Nairobi, from northern Wajir county, police mentioned.
The motive force had tried to cross a flooded part of the highway when it occurred. The bus then turned caught in some mud surrounded by raging waters.
A number of the passengers had been rescued from the roof of the car.
The Kenya Pink Cross mentioned it was a “difficult rescue operation” to avoid wasting the lives of who had been “marooned by raging waters” within the Lager Areli space close to Tulla village in Tana River county.
The incident occurred within the early hours of Tuesday following ongoing rains which have left the Garissa-Nairobi Freeway closely flooded.
Movies shared on social media confirmed the bus, owned by Umma Categorical, turning into submerged within the flood water.
Ali Ndiema, the regional police chief, instructed Kenya’s Nation information web site that the motive force had “risked the lives of greater than 50 individuals”, including that this was a punishable offence.
The Kenya Pink Cross mentioned it had collaborated with members of the close by group to achieve the passengers.
