As a lot as I am keen on opinions of the film Civil Warfare, I am extra intrigued by reactions to the politics (or lack thereof) of Civil Warfare. A whole lot of critics suppose the movie deliberately geese specificity to make the story extra common. Or not flip off half the potential ticket patrons. Some dig that, some do not.
However this right-winger on Breitbart sees it as an open assault on Trump and MAGA and this dude is pissed. It feels like he is pissed rather a lot. No matter.
What grabbed my consideration is a line from his “evaluation.” (I am not going to hyperlink to it since I do not need to encourage anybody to go to Breitbart. Should you actually need to really feel soiled, the author’s identify is John Nolte.) He writes:
And with out a declared perspective, you by no means know who to root for. Has President GreatHairRedTie (Nick Offerman) refused to depart workplace for good cause—to carry the union collectively? (After we’re advised the president disbanded the FBI and shoots journalists on sight, I used to be certain he was the hero.)
I am pretty sure this was meant as a joke, an oh-so-funny apart that will be grokked by true believers. However whilst a “joke,” it is revealing about these folks and their world view. They was all about legislation and order however now they hate the FBI, I suppose as a result of they implement the legislation, even for white nationalists and right-wing militias. So unfair of these rattling G-men.
However the subsequent half is much more chilling. They hate journalists a lot that capturing them can be justified to avoid wasting the Union. Or decency. Or one thing. Killing reporters — hilarious!
Appears these constitutional originalists love the “Structure” however do not love that pesky First Modification, designed to guard press freedom as a bulwark in opposition to totalitarianism. Oh, wait, possibly that is why they do not prefer it.
Beforehand: “Civil Warfare” is an isolating, information-starved psychological horror
