On packed trains, in the town’s basements and bunkers, in the hospitals and at citizen defence positions, we meet the women and men preventing, surviving or fleeing the battle.
From the capital, Kyiv, to its satellite tv for pc metropolis Irpin and all the way down to Odesa on the Black Sea, residents and troopers maintain entrance strains with defiance amid the despair – witnesses to a battle many are nonetheless making an attempt to know.
