Rukirabashaija, creator of satirical novels about corruption and greed, is being held incommunicado, his lawyer says.
A Ugandan satirical novelist and critic of President Yoweri Museveni and his son have been tortured in captivity, his lawyer has mentioned.
Kakwenza Rukirabashaija, who gained the PEN Pinter Prize Worldwide Author of Braveness award final 12 months, was arrested on December 28 and has but to be charged in any courtroom.
On Wednesday, lawyer Eron Kiiza mentioned that Rukirabashaija displayed indicators of being tortured when safety personnel introduced him to his home on Monday to seek for proof.

Over the past two years, Rukirabashaija has been arbitrarily arrested twice and detained incommunicado.
In April 2020, he was arrested at his residence and detained for seven days. PEN Worldwide mentioned that “though the complete interrogation was reportedly in regards to the contents of his novel, he was offered in courtroom on 21 April 2020 and charged with violating COVID-19 well being laws”.
He was arrested once more in September 2020 and questioned about his second guide, wherein he described the torture he was subjected to throughout his first detention.
