Held on the Worldwide Conference and Exhibition Centre in Sydney from 20 to 22 October 2022, Design Present Australia offered greater than 100 exhibitor stands and a full program of speaker periods throughout three phases. Right here, we choose a few of our stand highlights from the 2022 Sydney present.
Snelling
This multidisciplinary lighting, furnishings and objects studio based mostly in New Zealand offered an intimate “cave” of their creations. Formed by Bec Snelling’s formal coaching as a nice artist and her years of expertise as a designer, the sculptural but purposeful items actually glistened and shined on the stand. The end result was an area that felt like an artwork gallery quite than an exhibition stand.
Nau
On the Nau lounge from Cult Design, Adam Goodrum’s new Lincoln couch was on present alongside the brand new Nest Monochrome tables and Furl coat stand. Additionally on present have been the Nami Eating Desk and Sia Chair by Tom Fereday and the the Jolly pendant mild by Kate Stokes. Styled amongst an understated backdrop of layered sheer curtains from Kvadrat Maharam, the stand felt like a fantastic residential setting.
Sugi
Whereas tiny, this stand had massive impression. Lined with Sugi’s Japanese cedar in numerous finishes, it seemed like a peaceable Japanese cabin – an enormous feat in a busy commerce present. The straightforward, genuine design by New Zealand-based Scott Fitzsimons Studio was a favorite of mine, and actually captured the sincere materials, which is out there from Japanese Timber Australia. And it smelled good too!
Australia’s Subsequent High Designer
Shining a highlight on rising designers and makers, Australia’s Subsequent High Designer’s Showcase offered an array of authentic and thrilling merchandise and ideas shaping the way forward for design. Some favourites of mine have been the Channel Lamp by Nameless Design Haus, the glass sculptures by Sasa Barnes, and the Shaved Timber vessels by Bolaji Teniola. The subsequent gen of designers are definitely ones to observe.
Artichoke Lounge
What sort of proud editor would I be if I didn’t point out our very personal Artichoke Lounge? Designed by Lisa at Freehand Design Studio with product from the Nau assortment from Cult Design, the stand offered the proper alternative to lounge round, get some work achieved and choose up a free journal within the course of – all whereas being surrounded by Adam Goodrum’s Chameleon desk, his Don, Molloy, Softply and Mega Tulip chairs and Tom Fereday’s Sia chair.
