Inside the confines of a canvas, Russian artist Ekaterina Popova nurtures the calm, acquainted ambiance of dwelling. Her dreamlike interiors are comprised of blurred edges and thick brushstrokes in oil that solid a refined haze over every scene, and Popova’s heat, impressionistic model lends itself to the lived-in feeling of her work: a quilt hangs off the sting of a mattress, a e-book rests within the window as if it was simply set down by its reader, and the lunch remnants stay on a dressed desk.
Typically depicting her personal bed room and pals’ areas, Popova focuses on an array of textures like slatted wooden flooring, fur blankets, floral bedding, and luxurious foliage, and the pure mild or mushy glow of a lamp that illuminates the scenes bolsters their sense of consolation and intimacy. She explains:
For the previous few years, I’ve been exploring interiors in my work. The curiosity began as a approach for me to mirror on my upbringing in Russia, however finally progressed to exploring the general concept of “dwelling” and what it means me now… My work embrace messy rooms, intimate gadgets, and objects that discuss with human presence with out together with the determine.
