French president Emmanuel Macron stated on Thursday that member states want an emergency mechanism to answer threats on the bloc’s exterior borders, Reuters reported. “A sovereign Europe is for me above all a Europe able to controlling its borders,” he stated, arguing the EU nations are sometimes “too sluggish to react”. Macron stated that the emergency mechanism must depend on cooperation with the EU border company Frontex.
