Fifteen individuals have been arrested throughout a policing operation in east Leicester “to discourage additional dysfunction”.
It comes after two arrests had been made when police stated disturbances broke out at an unplanned protest on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
In an announcement on Sunday evening, Leicestershire police stated: “Officers grew to become conscious of teams of younger males gathering on Sunday afternoon within the North Evington space of town.
“Officers spoke to them and took steps, together with putting in a brief police cordon, to minimise hurt and disturbance to communities.”
The power stated all fifteen remained in coverage custody simply handed midnight on Monday morning.
Non permanent chief constable Rob Nixon referred to as for calm on Saturday evening. The power stated massive crowds shaped when teams of younger males gathered for an unplanned protest.
In a video filmed at 9pm on Saturday, Nixon stated: “We’ve got had quite a few studies of an outbreak of dysfunction in elements of the east Leicester space of town.
“We’ve got acquired officers there, we’re taking management of that state of affairs.
“There are extra officers en route and dispersal powers and cease search powers have been authorised. Please don’t become involved, we’re calling for calm.”
A police spokesperson stated: “A number of incidents of violence and injury have been reported to the police and are being investigated.
“Two arrests had been made – one man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent dysfunction and one man on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. They continue to be in police custody.
“We’re persevering with to name for dialogue and calm with help from local people leaders. We won’t tolerate violence or dysfunction in our metropolis.”
Further officers have been on patrol within the space in current weeks after various incidents of dysfunction after an Asia Cup cricket match.
