And Neville now believes fourth would characterize a profitable season for Rangnick, having tipped his former aspect to complete above Liverpool in August following the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I made the prediction that it will be Manchester Metropolis, Chelsea and Manchester United [as the top three] – I’m not going to vary that due to the signing of Ronaldo,” he instructed Sky Sports activities.
“I’m going to stay with that as a result of I don’t suppose the Ronaldo signing makes them a greater crew than Chelsea, who’re the Champions League winners, and Manchester Metropolis who have been 20 factors clear [last season].
“Completely it brings them (United) nearer to the title. Do I feel it’ll win them the title? No I don’t. However now I’m extra enthusiastic about Manchester United difficult for the title than I used to be perhaps 5 – 6 days in the past.”
A month later, Neville doubled down, claiming they might be “amongst it” come the top of the season.

United then went on a run of 5 defeats in seven video games, together with embarrassing losses to supposed title rivals Liverpool and Manchester Metropolis.
Rangnick is now on the helm after Michael Carrick’s transient interim spell and Neville has revised the goal for his former membership.
“I feel in case you are being smart then prime 4 is the goal,” he instructed Sky Sports activities. “What has occurred already this season means they can’t win the league. I don’t suppose they’re adequate anyway.
“However I feel they will actually have a great season and end within the prime 4.”
