Google and Fb pledged to assist each other in the event that they ever confronted an investigation into their pact to work collectively in internet advertising, based on a report from The Wall Road Journal on Tuesday.
The story is predicated on an unredacted model of a lawsuit filed by 10 U.S. states towards Google final week that was seen by the Journal.
Google and Fb reportedly made a deal in September 2018 during which Fb agreed to not compete with Google’s internet advertising instruments. In return, the social media big was given “particular therapy” when it used them itself, based on the Journal.
The lawsuit reportedly states that Google and Fb knew their deal might end in antitrust investigations.
A Google spokesperson instructed CNBC that the claims made within the lawsuit had been inaccurate. “The concept that this was a secret deal is simply mistaken. We have been public about this partnership for years,” they stated.
Fb didn’t instantly reply to CNBC’s request for remark.
