Robbie Coltrane, who starred as Hagrid within the “Harry Potter” movies, has died at 72, his agent advised the BBC on Friday.
“Robbie will most likely be finest remembered for many years to come back as Hagrid… a job which introduced pleasure to youngsters and adults alike, prompting a stream of fan letters each week for over 20 years,” his agent Belinda Wright mentioned.
“For me personally I shall bear in mind him as an abidingly loyal consumer,” she continued. “In addition to being an exquisite actor, he was forensically clever, brilliantly witty and after 40 years of being proud to be referred to as his agent, I shall miss him.”
The actor is survived by his youngsters, Spencer and Alice; their mom and his ex-wife, Rhona Gemmell; and his sister Annie Rae.
Coltrane, who was born Anthony Robert McMillan in Scotland, first rose to prominence in the UK enjoying Dr. Eddie “Fitz” Fitzgerald on the British present “Cracker” from 1993 to 1996. Beginning in 2001, he appeared in all eight movies within the “Harry Potter” franchise over the course of a decade.
