The Taliban has freed an American contractor in change for an Afghan drug supplier.
The Taliban has launched US Navy veteran Mark Frerichs in change for an Afghan tribal chief.
Frerichs was kidnapped in February 2020 whereas Bashir Noorzai was serving a life sentence for smuggling heroin.
US President Joe Biden says the choice was not taken frivolously.
The Taliban says this can be a new period of relations with Washington.
However will it change something?
And are diplomatic ties between the Taliban and the US even potential?
