Though skilled in conventional portray strategies, Dutch artist Joris Kuipers isn’t glad with the constraints of an oblong body or items that sit stationary on the wall. His undulating, cloud-like installations seem to drift and flutter as if a clump of big, colourful autumn leaves have been tossed upwards and frozen in mid-air.
In his ongoing collection Jardin Suspendus and In Bloom, Kuipers invokes the environment of gardens. Floral-like shapes overlap, swell, and skitter in site-specific installations, whether or not hanging from the ceiling or flaring up from pedestals. Put in on stem-like helps, the colourful types playfully evade a single definition, taking up the natural, blossoming high quality of flowers, coral, or lichen.
Kuipers was just lately commissioned by U.Okay.-based company ArtLink for a collection of works in purple niches that can finally be put in in a brand new cruise ship. Discover extra on the artist’s web site and Instagram.
