The person killed in a farm accident in Co Donegal yesterday has been named regionally as main businessman Eddie Tinney.
The incident involving the Letterkenny man, who was in his late 70s, occurred at round 11.25am whereas he was engaged on land at Tullygay on the outskirts of Letterkenny. He was taken to Letterkenny College Hospital however died a short while later.
Mr Tinney was well-known in enterprise, farming and native politics circles in Donegal.
Workers at Tinney’s Oil and Coal on Letterkenny’s Port Street paid tribute to the person who ran the profitable enterprise over time. A message that includes an image of Mr Tinney sitting within the workplace on the yard stated: “Heartbroken and devastated. RIP Eddie.”
Messages of sympathy flowed in on social media for Mr Tinney who was a well-liked determine in regards to the city and county.
He’s survived by his spouse, Theresa, and youngsters Cecelia, Johanna, Patrick and Edward.
A Garda investigation into Mr Tinney’s loss of life has begun. The accident web site, some 2km outdoors Letterkenny, was sealed off yesterday.
