MEXICO CITY — Migrant advocates and Roman Catholics on Sunday marked the demise of Rev. Pedro Pantoja, a priest who helped discovered a migrant shelter within the northern Mexico metropolis of Saltillo.
Bishop emeritus Raúl Vera stated it was an indication from God that Pantoja died on Dec. 18, which is the worldwide day of migrants.
“Right here, our Father, was saying ’this son of mine can be an advocate earlier than me for the migrants of the world,” Vera stated in a mass Sunday.
The Casa del Migrante wrote in an announcement that “he too was right here as a migrant, and his journey has reached its last vacation spot, with God.”
Pantoja had labored with migrants for many years, beginning within the Nineteen Sixties, each in the USA and northern Mexico.
For a few years, the northern border state of Coahuila was harmful for migrants due to drug cartels energetic there.
