Quite a few customers are reporting that just about any and all Microsoft providers hosted on Azure are down, the night of April 1. The @AzureSupport and @MSFT365Status accounts on Twitter are each acknowledging the issue and are pointing many customers to non-working alternate standing pages as of 5:45 p.m. ET.
Customers are reporting the Azure Portal, Azure Companies, Dynamics 365, Xbox Stay and a bunch of different providers can’t be reached. Bing.com is down. Curiously, my Change e-mail is up at this level, however that could be as a result of Microsoft has not completed porting Change to Azure.
It is unclear which international locations and areas ar being affected at the moment, as Microsoft’s advised alternate Azure standing web page is displaying inexperienced test marks — despite a header stating “An rising situation is being investigated. We are going to present an replace with extra particulars shortly.” (Due to Daniel Fajardo Valenti on Twitter for the display seize of that alternate web page.)
At 6 p.m. ET, the MSFT365Status account posted: ““We’re investigating a potential DNS issue and are evaluating our mitigation options.”
Replace: At 6:30 p.m. ET, the Azure standing web page was up (for me, anyway). It is a worldwide outage. Microsoft’s standing message is saying “a subset” of customers might expertise “intermittent points” with Microsoft providers.
Replace (6:35 p.m. ET): The MSFT365Status account is reporting that things may be recovering: “Microsoft rerouted site visitors to our resilient DNS capabilities and are seeing enchancment in service availability. We’re persevering with to analyze the reason for the DNS situation. The following replace might be supplied in 60 minutes or as occasions warrant.”
I’ve seen a few customers say that at present is not the primary time this week that Microsoft cloud providers have been struggling. Microsoft buyer Long Zheng famous: “This Azure DNS situation did not begin at present. I’ve seen random DNS decision failures to App Companies and Cloud Companies since a few days in the past which clearly escalated. I am shocked Azure engineers haven’t got some inside metrics that might have caught this earlier.”
