A sheriff in a rural North Carolina county resigned Monday after he was recorded saying blatantly racist feedback in regards to the Black deputies working beneath him.
Jody Greene, the now former sheriff of Columbus County, was caught spewing derogatory remarks on a telephone name in 2019 — not lengthy after he took workplace. Audio from the telephone name was recorded and made public not too long ago.
The Columbus County District Lawyer’s workplace filed a petition on Friday presenting proof of recorded conversations in court docket data, demanding for Greene’s removing from workplace following his recorded remarks.
