Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) will order two LNG-fuelled massive coal carriers from Oshima Shipbuilding. The 95,000 dwt vessels are scheduled to be delivered in 2025.
NYK stated in a launch in the present day it’s positioning LNG gasoline as a bridge answer till future zero-emission ships could be realised.
The corporate ordered the world’s first LNG-fuelled massive coal provider in 2019 and its first LNG-fuelled capesize bulk provider in 2021, along with 4 extra LNG-fuelled capes in January 2022.
“Going ahead, we are going to proceed with the gradual deliberate introduction of LNG-fuelled vessels till the realisation of zero-emission vessels that use marine fuels comparable to hydrogen or ammonia, which might have an excellent decrease environmental affect,” NYK said in the present day.
