Cheering a jury verdict that ends in a police officer being led from the courtroom in handcuffs feels fallacious; this can be a second that ought to generate deep disappointment in our hearts and minds. That is no time for dancing within the streets. Our heads are lowered in disgrace as a result of someplace alongside the road a public servant who promised to guard and serve misplaced his approach and went rogue.

Darnella Frazier’s position within the Chauvin convictions can’t be overstated. She had the presence of thoughts to shoot the video that was all of the proof anybody wanted to know this cop dedicated homicide. With out the video, I can’t think about Derek Chauvin would have been convicted. Thank God there’s a measure of justice for George Floyd.

However he omitted one other very important device: They will vote. The extra engaged and justice-seeking youth who vote, the extra possible we are going to lastly have native, state and federal governments enacting racially simply legal guidelines. This consists of voting out of workplace these officers who both fake there aren’t any such issues or, worse, who perpetuate and worsen the injustices by their very own bigotry.

I hate to sound naïve, however why do officers need to shoot to kill?
Whereas we have been awaiting the decision within the George Floyd case, a young person was fatally shot whereas brandishing a knife. Absolutely the officers may have subdued her with out utilizing deadly power.
