Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Ok Sangma on Wednesday stated that an ordinance to repeal the gaming act within the state will “be launched and handed within the subsequent cupboard assembly”.
The federal government determined to repeal the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act (MRGA), 2021, following stiff opposition from church buildings and social organisations.
“An ordinance (to repeal the playing act) shall be introduced and handed within the subsequent cupboard assembly,” he advised reporters on the sidelines of a programme when requested concerning the process that might be adopted to revoke the regulation.
The chief minister had on October 14 stated that any Act might be repealed by way of an ordinance, which is the process that shall be adopted for the gaming act.
The MRGA, handed within the Meeting final 12 months, sought to advertise the organising of casinos and gaming parlours within the state to advertise tourism and generate income.
