The world is watching as Iran erupts into protests over the loss of life of a 22-year-old Kurdish lady who was detained for days by the nation’s morality police for not carrying her hijab correctly.
Mahsa Amini was arrested on Sept. 13 by Iran’s police drive that terrorizes residents — notably girls — for what they deem a refusal to adjust to the nation’s strict costume code. This contains the hijab, a headband worn by Muslim girls. Three days after being hospitalized in a coma, Amini was pronounced lifeless.
Protesters have accused police of killing Amini as a result of she didn’t abide by Iran’s strict hijab mandate. Since her loss of life, Iranians — notably girls — have taken to the streets to demand justice for Amini, calling for an finish to the morality police and the hijab mandate. Ladies have been documented taking off their hijabs and in some cases burning them, an act that might price them their lives.
Because the demonstrations started, tensions have risen between civilians and police in cities throughout Iran.
