ATHENS, Greece — Police in Greece have raided a number of properties in Athens and detained dozens of suspects in a crackdown on soccer violence that led to the loss of life of a police officer in December.
The raids on properties and automobiles began late Sunday and continued Monday, police mentioned.
Police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis, 31, died on Dec. 27 after being hit by a flare throughout violence between rival followers at a volleyball recreation in Athens.
Violent soccer followers usually select flippantly policed occasions in different sports activities to confront rivals.
