Based on the WSJ report, U.S. intelligence businesses have shared the evaluation with some European intelligence businesses. However some European safety officers “stay skeptical” that Putin didn’t play a direct hand in Navalny’s dying, contemplating his tight grip on Russia.
The U.S. evaluation is “based mostly on a spread of knowledge, together with some labeled intelligence, and an evaluation of public information, together with the timing of his dying and the way it overshadowed Putin’s re-election,” the WSJ reported.
Navalny ally Leonid Volkov instructed the WSJ that “the concept of Putin being not knowledgeable and never approving killing Navalny is ridiculous.”
The Workplace of the Director of Nationwide Intelligence, which oversees U.S. intelligence businesses, declined to touch upon the problem, in line with the WSJ report.
Putin has denied any involvement in Navalny’s dying. Final month, the Russian president stated that he had agreed to swap the opposition chief in a prisoner change days earlier than Navalny died, confirming claims made by an in depth Navalny ally that Russia and Western officers had negotiated a prisoner change deal.
On Saturday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated he had seen the WSJ’s report.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a high-quality materials that deserves any consideration,” Peskov was quoted as saying by Russian media. “Some very empty arguments. Apparently, they planted it for Saturday studying to the world viewers,” he stated.
