Ten Manning River turtles that have been hatched from eggs rescued throughout devastating bushfires in 2020 have been returned to the wild in New South Wales, a conservation group has stated. Aussie Ark stated the turtles have been returned on October 20 to a stretch of the Manning River that was, after months of monitoring, deemed sufficiently “substantial, clear, and flowing.” “This has been a very long time coming. We have now cared for these juveniles for over two years now, and have watched and waited patiently as our river programs recovered from fireplace, drought after which floods,” stated Tim Faulkner, Aussie Ark managing director.
