St Kilda coach Ross Lyon concedes the criticism directed at him and his gamers is “legitimate”, saying it’s time for the group to reply with motion on the sphere.
The Saints slipped to 14th on the ladder following final week’s shock five-point loss to lowly Hawthorn.
St Kilda nice Nick Riewoldt took purpose at Max King within the wake of the defeat, saying the Saints spearhead was “one-dimensional” and lacked “ahead craft”.
King has kicked 9.8 this season, whereas the Saints’ common of 74 factors per match ranks them 14th within the league.
“We have all set to work on stuff. Is it symptomatic [of the team’s struggles]?” Lyon replied when requested about Riewoldt’s feedback on Thursday.
“Everybody’s entitled to their opinion. Except you are within the 4 partitions — they’re the one actual opinions that rely, to be sincere.”
Requested whether or not King wanted to work on his ahead craft, Lyon mentioned: “I feel everybody does.
“I keep in mind Robert Partitions, who was one of many nice coaches, and Craig Bradley mentioned to him when he went to Carlton, ‘Preserve teaching me, all of us have to hold bettering’.”
The Saints’ finals hopes now seem shot after dropping 4 of their previous 5 matches.
The defeat to Hawthorn was notably onerous to digest, given St Kilda entered the match as robust favourites.
“We had been actually upset. I knew there can be criticism,” Lyon mentioned forward of Saturday evening’s match with Fremantle at Docklands.
“We had been actually upset with our offence.
“There have been a variety of alternatives left on the desk that we had been actually upset with.
“I settle for the criticism as a result of it is legitimate. I’ve mentioned there was a sameness [about us].
“I am not perturbed, however all there’s [now] is motion. Everybody does a variety of speaking.
“We need to develop our younger gamers, we need to get our senior gamers in good kind. We have been spluttering.
“Ideally, we would have one other one or two wins on the board and I might be fairly snug with all issues considered.”
