The whale is drifting north-east of Thomson Bay ferry jetty and sharks have been sighted simply 100 metres from the shore, forcing Rottnest Island Authority to shut seashores inside a one kilometre radius of the whale.
These embody Thomson Bay, Pinky Seashore, The Basin and Longreach Bay.
Rottnest Island rangers are working with The Division of Main Industries and Fisheries to trace the whale’s actions and folks have been warned they’re getting into the water at their very own threat.
The shark sightings come after a number of assaults in WA waters in current months.
