GENEVA (AP) — A Swiss railway firm claimed the document for the world’s longest passenger practice Saturday with a visit on probably the most spectacular tracks via the Alps.
The Rhaetian Railway firm ran the 1.9-kilometer-long (1.2-mile-long) practice composed of 100 coaches alongside the Albula/Bernina route from Preda to Berguen.
The route was designated a UNESCO World Heritage in 2008 and leads via 22 tunnels, a few of which spiral via mountains, and throughout 48 bridges, together with the curved Landwasser Viaduct.
All the journey took over an hour. Rail lovers lined the valley to look at the practice’s 25 sections wind their method about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) via the Alps.
Rhaetian Railway director Renato Fasciati mentioned the document try was meant to spotlight a few of Switzerland’s engineering achievements and to rejoice 175 years of Swiss railways.
