British anti-terrorism police arrested two youngsters on Sunday evening after a gunman took 4 individuals hostage at a synagogue within the U.S. on Saturday, Higher Manchester Police said.
The gunman died after federal brokers stormed the synagogue in Colleyville, Texas after a day-long siege. All of the hostages had been freed safely.
The FBI on Sunday recognized the suspect as Malik Faisal Akram, a British citizen from Blackburn within the northwest of England. U.Okay. legislation enforcement is cooperating with U.S. authorities on the investigation and made arrests in Manchester.
“Two youngsters had been detained in South Manchester this [Sunday] night. They continue to be in custody,” Assistant Chief Constable Dominic Scally, for Counter Terror Policing North West, said. The pair can’t be recognized for authorized causes.
“Police forces within the area will proceed to liaise with their native communities, together with the Jewish neighborhood, and can put in place any obligatory measures to offer reassurance to them,” Scally added. The 2 youngsters will now be questioned.
