In Surf & Turf, designer Adam G., who’s behind the Santa Monica-based studio TRÜF Artistic, transfers his signature messymod type from typography to biology. The continuing illustrated sequence melds geometric shapes, clear traces, and squiggly kinds into playful interpretations of foxes, roosters, and piranhas.
Various from stark and summary to extra dense compositions, the minimal creatures are all rendered within the designer’s signature pink and black colour palette. Each bit has “an emphasis on stability and circulate,” he tells Colossal, and the sequence is “a totally freeform exploration inside a reasonably strict, self-imposed design language. That distinction between whole freedom and whole restriction is what I believe defines the messymod type. It’s what retains it constant and peculiar or… ‘constantly bizarre!’”
Prints of the gathering can be found within the messymod store, and you may comply with Adam G.’s private and industrial tasks on Behance and Instagram.
