The cargo, discovered within the Indian Ocean, reportedly contained Russian and Chinese language-made “unlawful” weapons, and it stays unknown from the place the weapons have been taken and the place they have been purported to be delivered.
The US Navy has intercepted a consignment of illicit weapons carried by a vessel within the worldwide waters of the Northern Arabian Sea.
The photographs of the cargo, that allegedly included “superior Russian-made anti-tank guided missiles & Chinese language Kind 56 assault rifles,” have been posted on the official US Fifth Fleet Twitter account on Friday.
The US Fifth Fleet used an SH-60 Seahawk helicopter, which took off from guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61), to cease a stateless vessel for a flag verification throughout routine patrols.
“USS Monterey and its embarked US Coast Guard Superior Interdiction Staff (AIT) found the illicit cargo throughout a routine flag verification boarding carried out in worldwide water in accordance with customary worldwide regulation,” the assertion reads.
The suspicious ship had been underneath surveillance by the USS Monterey for some 36 hours earlier than being approached. The cargo was confiscated and now awaits disposal as an investigation is carried out to find out the supply of the weapons and its last vacation spot. In the meantime, the crew of the unidentified ship have been launched “after questioning” and the “dhow was assessed for seaworthiness.”
