Picnic sandwiches and snacks now in hand, we moved on from Julian and continued our journey to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, one of many largest state parks in California. With its 800 kilometers of dust roads, 12 wilderness areas, and overlaying a ridiculous 600,000 acres (which incorporates one-fifth of San Diego County!), this state park is actually one you may simply lose your self in. Located inside the Colorado Desert (which itself is a part of the bigger Sonoran Desert), the park’s panorama is a mix of bajadas and desert washes, rock formations and colourful badlands, giant arid landscapes, and mountains. And dirt. Heaps and plenty of mud.
This heat climate State Park is wealthy in each fossil and Native American data, and as a vacationer attraction, is thought for its lengthy remoted mountaineering trails and stargazing alternatives, to not point out the truth that as a desert vacation spot you’ll be able to just about camp wherever you need (without spending a dime) as long as your automotive is parked no extra that one automotive size off the highway and your camp is ready up a minimum of 100 yards from any water supply. So vacationers? Sure, the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park most positively will get them.
As for Johann and myself, we drove in, discovered a quiet spot (which in truth is de facto not exhausting), unwrapped our sandwiches and simply stood there, taking within the tranquility of this unbelievable panorama surrounding us. No roadrunner crossing our path this time round, however that mentioned, fortunately no mountain lion neither!
The final two photographs within the set above are after all clearly not of the desert, which makes full sense seeing as they have been taken following the 2 hour scenic drive again to San Diego, in a stylish little espresso spot that clearly each Johann and I have been too previous for. (For reference sake, it was the flagship location of Higher Buzz Espresso. Nicely value a go to).
