There’s chaos aplenty in EastEnders tonight as Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) makes his long-awaited return.
In typical Walford fashion, Freddie makes quite an entrance, causing a stir with the Bridge Street market traders bas he helps himself to a bap from Stacey Slater’s (Lacey Turner) stall – without paying!
Awks.
The newcomer hightails it out of there, making his way to the Tube station, where Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) spots him and, taking pity on him, covers his fare.
Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), meanwhile, crosses paths with Freddie once more, and he makes it his mission to teach the young lad a lesson by making it clear that he’s going to involve the police in the situation.
Freddie, however, stops Billy in his tracks with a jaw-dropping revelation, as he introduces himself as his son!
Confused about this whole situation? Fear not as Metro.co.uk is here to fill you in on all you need to know about Freddie and his reasons for being in Albert Square.
Who is Freddie Slater in EastEnders?
Freddie Slater is the 18-year-old son of former Walford icon Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth). Little Mo, as long-time viewers will recall, was previously married to Billy.
Contrary to what he says in his debut scenes, Billy is not his father.
Little Mo was raped in 2003 by a man named Graham Foster, who she believed to her friend. She subsequently gave birth to Freddie, but Billy struggled to accept the child as his own.
Two year-old Freddie left the Square with mum Mo in 2006, but he will stage a comeback tonight in highly-anticipated scenes.
‘Freddie Slater is a chaotic 18-year-old with a sensitive soul,’ said EastEnders’ Executive Producer, teasing what viewers can expect from the character.
‘A modern-day lad who’s in touch with his spiritual side. He’s philosophical, accepting, but full of mischief and makes mistakes.’
Freddie will be sticking around this time, and pictures from filming reveal that he will attend his aunty Kat’s (Jessie Wallace) wedding as she plans to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).
Who plays Freddie Slater in EastEnders?
Freddie Slater is played by Bobby Brazier, the 19-year-old son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier.
It was revealed in July that Bobby, who will make his acting debut in the soap, has joined the cast of EastEnders.
‘I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders – so far it’s been perfect,’ he said. ‘Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped.
‘Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing, I’m very grateful. Loving every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in Walford.’
‘I saw Bobby’s social media and we were already conceiving Freddie and building his character and there was some of what I saw in Bobby that I thought would be perfect for Freddie.
‘His energy. His twinkle. His spiritual side. So then we brought Bobby in to audition along with some others and he just blew us away with his performance. He is Freddie Slater.’
Bobby Brazier makes his debut as Freddie Slater in EastEnders on Tuesday Spetember 6 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
