The doorway gates: The parsonage for the Anglican church in Sutton Forest was constructed on land close to Hillview’s entrance gate in 1842. Nevertheless, shortly after, Lord Augustus Loftus (1879-1885), the primary governor to go to Hillview, declared the parsonage an eyesore and it was demolished in 1884. Nevertheless, the church had the final chuckle when, following the sale of Hillview within the late Fifties, its royal gates, deemed inappropriate for a non-public residence, have been eliminated and re-erected on the Anglican church, together with a plaque detailing the 16 governors who had prayed there.
