Sacheen Littlefeather, a Native American activist who turned down Marlon Brando’s 1973 Academy Award for Finest Actor on his behalf, died Sunday at 75, the Academy of Movement Footage Arts and Sciences tweeted.
Littlefeather, who declined Brando’s award for his position in “The Godfather” on his behalf, famously spoke on stage in regards to the movie trade’s therapy of Native Individuals almost 50 years in the past.
She was later topic to boos and criticism following her speech.
